Analytics

Interactions with the site are tracked to gain a better understanding of how it is being used.

Google Analytics is used on this site and is set up to track page views and interactions with links. Interactions do not collect emails, names, IP addresses or other personal data.

Users who signal a privacy preference through Global Privacy Control (GPC) or the older Do Not Track (DNT) setting will have their request respected: analytics is never loaded, no data is sent, and no analytics cookies are set. These settings can be enabled in most browsers — in Firefox it appears as “Tell websites not to sell or share my data.”

Analytics data is retained for 14 months.

Cookies and local storage

The only cookies used are those set by Google Analytics, and only when analytics is active. If you have signalled GPC or DNT, analytics never loads and no cookies are set at all.

Your light or dark theme preference is saved locally in your browser using local storage — this stays on your device and contains no personal data. If analytics is active (see above), toggling the theme sends an anonymous event recording that a switch happened, so theme usage can be understood in aggregate; this is suppressed if you’ve signalled GPC or DNT.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
